  1. A salmon is any of the various bony FISH of 
  2. the family Salmonidae. More specifically the 
  3. name is applied to several species of game 
  4. fishes of the genera Salmo and Oncorhynchus 
  5. of North America and Eurasia that mature in 
  6. the ocean but, to spawn, return to the 
  7. freshwater streams where they were born. 
  8. Their normal colour is silvery with a few 
  9. dark spots, but the colour changes at the 
  10. spawning season.
